Abstract

Acne or acne vulgaris is a disorder in the form of inflammation of the polysebaseus layer which is accompanied by blockage and accumulation of keratin material which is triggered by Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria. One of the native Indonesian plants that is widespread in several regions in Indonesia and has the potential to be developed is the beluntas plant (Pluchea indica L.). The cosmetic patch is a delivery system through the skin that allows the administration of essential ingredients such as vitamins. The purpose of this study was to determine the optimum combination formula of HPMC and CMC Na in the beluntas leaf extract patch. The extract obtained was made of 8 patch dosage formulas, patch preparations were tested for physical quality, weight uniformity, thickness, moisture content, folding endurance, loss on drying, pH, elongation presentation. The method used for optimization is the simplex lattice design (SLD). The results of this research were the patch formula with a combination of HPMC (0.3gram) and CMC Na (0.03gram). Antibacterial activity test of patch preparations was carried out by looking at the size of the inhibition zone, the data obtained were processed with ANOVA statistics. The average diameter of the inhibitory power obtained is 1.49 ± 0.03 in the medium category. The results of the Independent T-Test analysis showed that the results were 0.361> 0.05, indicating that the positive control and patch samples were not significantly different.
