Abstract

Non-coliform bacteria are gram-negative stems that are unable to ferment lactose, including Salmonella sp., Proteus sp., Pseudomonas sp., and Shigella sp. Transmission of non-coliform bacteria through unhygienic water consumption can cause illness with complaints of diarrhea, dysentery, typhus, and cholera. Water sources must meet sanitation requirements and the location of water sources must be within ≥10 meters of pollution by organic waste such as animal waste, tofu waste and septic tanks. This is done to avoid water pollution. This scientific paper aims to identify gram-negative non-coliform stem bacteria in water sources near organic waste based on literature studies. This study uses secondary data collection taken from several scientific journals. Data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis method. The results of research from the four reference journals reviewed with a total of 31 samples obtained 19 positive samples of non-coliform gram-negative rods, the species found were Salmonella sp., Shigella sp., Pseudomonas sp., Proteus sp. Almost all samples did not meet the microbiological requirements because the water source used to meet the daily needs of the community was located ≤10 m from pollution by organic waste such as animal waste, tofu waste and septic tanks, resulting in water pollution.
