Abstract

Telang flowers contain flavonoids as antibacterial, anti-dotum, treat red eyes, treat tired eyes, treat skin diseases and urinary disorders. Flavonoids given orally have poor bioavailability due to low solubility and unstable environmental factors. One effort that can be done to overcome this problem is to formulate the nanoparticles using chitosan and tripolyphosphate (TPP) polymers. This study aims to characterize the nanoparticles from ethanol extract of telang flowers with various chitosan concentration ratios. The ethanol extract of telang flower was obtained by extraction using the maceration method with 70% ethanol solvent. The results of the extract were made of colloidal nanoparticles using ionic gelation techniques using variations in the concentration of 0.1% chitosan, 0.2%, 0.3% and 0.1% tripolyphosphate. The nanoparticles colloid formed were characterized by particle size, zeta potential value, and phytochemicals. The results showed that the ethanol extract and telang flower nanoparticles positively contained flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, tannins, polyphenols, triterpenoids. The results of the characterization of the ethanol extract of telang flower nanoparticles showed that the F1, F2, and F3 formulas had sizes of 2221.7 nm, 461.6 nm, 7.4 nm and the zeta potential values of F1, F2 and F3 were 34.3 mV, 5.6. mV, 11.8 mV. F3 is a formula with the smallest particle size with a particle size characterization of 7.4 nm and a zeta potential of 11.8 mV.
