Abstract

Medicinal plants can be used as an alternative to blood pressure-lowering herbs that have been shown to lower blood pressure through previous preclinical and clinical trials. This study aims to determine the effect of using herbal medicine on changes in blood pressure in hypertensive patients through a systematic literature review. This research is a systematic literaturereview ehich is preceded by searching for scientific articles that have been publisher in the last 10 years. The search on the google scholar web, pub med, and portal garuda, then a database list carries out and selecting the appropriate database. The articles obtained were selected based on iclusion criteria and exclution criteria, then a critical apprisal was carried out using the Joanna Briggs Institute’s Crtitical Apprisal tools for use in JBI Systematic Review instrument. The results obtained from a systematic literature review without meta-analysis on 4 articles, on the use of herbs celery, gotu kola, cat's whiskers, temu lawak, turmeric, and meniran obtained p> 0.05, there was no significant difference with the control group (HCT therapy). In this study, herbal decoctions with steeping jamu were obtained p <0.05, which means that the herbal ingredients had an effect on lowering blood pressure. In the study the effect of giving Morinda Citrifolia L water consumed for 7 days was obtained p <0.05, which means that the has Morinda Citrifolia L an effect on blood pressure. In the study of Allium Sativum L. water that was consumed for 7 days, it was obtained p <0.05, which means that steeping garlic had a significant difference in blood pressure before and after being given Allium Sativum L.
