Abstract

Hepatitis B is a liver inflamation due to hepatitis B virus and can result in both acute and chronic disease. Acute hepatitis B is the hepatitis B disease developed for more than 6 months. This research aimed to find out the characteristics of patients and the use of drug for acute hepatitis B patients in inpatient unit of Assalam Gemolong Hospital. This study was a descriptive survey research conducted by collecting data retrospectively for 1 year in the period of June 2018 - June 2019. This research was conducted on 55 medical records of acute hepatitis B patients. The result of research showed that most patients were 46 - 55 years old (30,91%), and female (56,36%); by drug use, the drug used most frequently was gastrointestinal drug (40,37%) with ranitidine inj (34,62%), hepatoprotector (16,77%) with curcuma (83,33%), and ringer lactat infusion (67,65%); by other secondary diseases, patients with dyspepsia secondary disease were found most widely (29,09%). Conclusion: The representation of drug use for acute hepatitis B patients in inpatient unit of Assalam Gemolong Hospital occurs most frequently in the age group of 46 - 55 years, female, with dyspepsia secondary disease, and with gastrointestinal drug (ranitidine inj), hepatoprotector (curcuma), and lactate ringer infusion being the one used most frequently.
