Abstract

The ethanol extract of rosella flower (Hibiscus sabdariffa) was formulated into a transdermal patch preparation. One important component in making patches is a polymer that functions to control the speed of drug release. In this formulation using PVP and Carbopol polymers with different concentration variations, with the aim to determine the effect of the comparison of variations in the concentration of PVP and carbopol and to determine the best concentration of the formula PVP and Carbopol to produce a good transdermal patch sedan. This research was conducted by making 3 formula comparisons using variations in the concentration of PVP: Carbopol polymers is F1 (2: 0); F2 (1: 1); F3 (0: 2). Determination of the best formula is determined on the evaluation of the patch base that is the ability to pour and the speed of time to dry while evaluating the patch preparation is the percentage of water content test and the percentage elongation test. The best formula was chosen from the variation of PVP: Carbopol on F1 with a concentration (2: 0) it was found that the pouring power was very easy to pour and the speed of drying time was shorter while in the evaluation of the preparation results the percentage of water content was 2.58 ± 0.076 and the results of the elongation percentage test were 0.36 ± 0.00 better than other formulas.
