Abstract

Basil is one of the plants that are often consumed by the public for fresh food and also for treatment. Part of the basil plant that is commonly used as fresh vegetables and medicine is the leaves. Conducted a study with the title Antioxidant Activity Test Of Ethyl Acetate Fraction Ethanol Extract Basil Leaves (Ocimum x africanum L.) With FRAP Method. This study aims to determine the potential antioxidant activity of the basil ethyl acetate fraction (Ocimum x africanum L.). Basil leaves contain flavonoids which can act as natural antioxidants. Testing for antioxidant activity was carried out using the FRAP method and the description of antioxidant activity was expressed as mgAAE / g. Fractionation is carried out in stages using ethyl acetate solvents. The ethyl acetate fraction obtained was tested for its compound content using phytochemical examination. Phytochemical examination results of basil leaf ethyl acetate fraction containing flavonoids and phenols. The results of the measurement of the antioxidant activity of basil leaves ethyl acetate fraction was 0.0268 mgAAE / g.
