Abstract

Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a metabolic disease characterized by high levels of glucose in the blood (hyperglycemia) caused by impaired insulin secretion, decreased insulin action or a result of both. The state of chronic hyperglycemia from diabetes is associated with long-term damage, one of which is foot ulcers. Compliance with medication and eating diets is important in controlling blood sugar levels. This study aims to determine the characteristics of patients along with a description of the level of compliance taking medication and eating diets in patients with diabetes mellitus with foot ulcers in Wecare Boyolali Wound Care. The study design used a non-experimental descriptive method. The research instrument used the MMAS-8 questionnaire to measure the level of adherence to take medication, while the level of dietary adherence using the questionnaire from previous studies. Sampling with total sampling, analysis techniques using univariate analysis and total scoring, with respondents as many as 35 patients. The results of the study obtained the majority of patients with female sex 57.1%, age 46-55 years 48.6%, elementary school education 42.8%, long suffered 1-5 years 65.7%, labor employment 37.1%, income 1 -2 million 85.7%, the drugs used are glimepiride and metformin. The level of medication adherence was 54.3% low, the moderate category was 45.7%. The level of dietary adherence showed 91.4% adherent patients 8.6% non-adherent. The results of blood sugar levels <180 of 74.3%,> 180 of 25.7%. The results of this study can be concluded that adherence to take medication in patients with diabetes mellitus with foot ulcers is in the low category, the level of dietary compliance is in the adherent category.
