Abstract

The ethyl acetate fraction of krokot herb ethanol extract (Portulaca oleracea L.) contains flavonoids and has activity as a sunscreen. The optimum formula for the lotion ethyl acetate fraction of krokot herb ethanol extract was obtained based on the Simplex Lattice Design (SLD) method using Design Expert software version 11 with variations of cetyl alcohol, triethanolamine and stearic acid. The lotion preparations were made in 10 formulas and then tested for their physical properties. Physical properties data is used to determine the optimum formula. The difference in the physical properties of the experimental optimum formula to the predicted physical properties was determined by the t-test. The results showed that the optimum lotion formula was obtained with a composition of 3.00% cetyl alcohol, 3.00% triethanolamine and 9.00% stearic acid. The t-test showed no significant difference between the physical properties of the experimental results and the predicted physical properties. The ethyl acetate fraction lotion of krokot herb ethanol extract has activity as a sunscreen with an SPF value of 17.592 so it is classified as having ultra-protective power.
