Abstract

Cuts are wounds that occur due to being cut by a sharp object. Red betel leaf contains flavonoid compounds, tannins, and saponins that can be used to inhibit bleeding, are antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory. Cream is a semi-solid dosage form containing one or more drug ingredients dissolved or dispersed in a suitable base material. This study aims to determine the effect of the cream preparation of the ethyl acetate fraction ethanol extract of red betel leaf and to determine the concentration that gives the best effect on wound healing. Red betel leaf extraction was carried out by maceration method with 70% ethanol as solvent. Fractionation of red betel leaf using liquid-liquid partition method with n-hexane and ethyl acetate as solvents. The physical properties of the cream tested were organoleptic test, homogeneity test, pH test, viscosity test, spreadability test, adhesion test, cream emulsion type test. The test of the effect of applying cream on cuts was carried out with male white rats with their backs sliced. The data obtained were processed using One Way ANOVA and Pos Hoc. The results showed that the ethyl acetate fraction cream could have an effect on accelerating wound healing with a concentration of 3% fraction being the fastest concentration for wound healing
