Abstract
Polluted water will become a medium for the development of various bacteria and fungi that usually cause infections and various diseases. One of them is a swimming pool, but the water used to fill the swimming pool itself is often of unknown quality. Thus the water in the swimming pool does not escape from contamination by microorganisms including fungi which are the original inhabitants in water bodies and several species of which act as opportunistic pathogens in humans. In this study, fungal isolation was carried out in 10 swimming pools in the city of Bandung, namely 5 swimming pools that were rarely cleaned with many visitors and 5 swimming pools that were routinely cleaned with few visitors. The purpose of this study was to describe the growth of fungal colonies in swimming pool water in Bandung City and to find out whether there was a relationship between the growth of fungal colonies and the condition of the pool at the time of testing. The method used in this research is descriptive method by culturing from swimming pool water samples grown on Sabauroud Dextrose Agar (SDA) medium, observations were made macroscopically and microscopically. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that there is a growth of fungal colonies in swimming pools that are rarely cleaned with many visitors by 100% and in swimming pools that were routinely cleaned with few visitors by 20%. Based on the results of statistical tests using the Pearson Chi-Square test p = 0.033 (p <0.05), it means that there is a relationship between the growth of fungal colonies and the condition of the pond when tested.
