Abstract

Cadmium is the most common heavy metal found in the environment. Cd that enters the body continuously can cause poisoning such as hypertension. Hypertension is a condition in which a person experiences an increase in blood pressure above normal. Welding workshop workers have the potential to be exposed to Cd metal through fumes inhaled during the welding process, apart from breathing Cd can also enter through hair. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between cadmium levels in hair and hypertension of welding workers in kelurahan Banaran, kecamatan Grogol, kabupaten Sukoharjo. This type of research is observational analytic using a cross sectional. The analyzed data was tested using the SPSS statistical data processing application version 25.0. Statistical analysis using the Mann Whitney, the asymp.sig value of 0,552 means p>0.05. From the results of this study, it was concluded that there was no correlation between levels of cadmium (Cd) in hair and hypertension of welding workers in Banaran Village, Grogol Sub-district, Sukoharjo District.
