Abstract
Indonesia is an agricultural country with a large farmer population. The use of pesticides as plants to improve the quality and productivity of agricultural products cannot be avoided. However, excessive use of pesticides resulted in adverse health effects. Pesticide poisoning could be influenced by the duration of spraying. The longer a farmer was exposed to pesticides, the more pesticides would be absorbed into the body. Pesticide poisoning could cause a decrease in hemoglobin levels in red blood cells, resulting in anemia. Sprayers used to spray pesticides are conventional sprayers and electric sprayers. Anemia occured due to the presence of chemical compounds in pesticides such as sulfur and nitrite, high levels could lead to sulfhemoglobin and methemoglobin developing in red blood cells. This type of research was analytic observational with a cross sectional approach. This study was done on February - March 2022 and there were 27 samples in this study with purposive sampling technique. The results of this study was tested using Chi-Square Test the significance was 1,000 (> 0.05) so it could be concluded that there was no significant correlation of spraying duration on farmers’ hemoglobin levels in Tanjungsari village Sukoharjo Regency.
