Abstract

Carbon Monoxide is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas and is a waste gas from the combustion process. High concentrations of CO in the blood can cause respiratory problems and even death. CO in the air can enter the body and binds to the blood to form COHb, the working period is one of the factors for increasing COHb levels in the blood. This study uses an analytic observational method with a Cross Sectional approach. The sampling technique used is quota sampling with a subject of 15 brick craftsmen with 3 categories of tenure, namely <5 years, 5-8 years and >8 years. The COHb level was checked using a UV-Vis Spectrophotometer at the National Stikes Chemistry Laboratory using the Conway Diffusion method. The wavelength used is 416.0 nm and operating time is between 44-54 minutes. The results of the study were then compared with the normal limit value of COHb in the blood, which was < 3.5% according to the Regulation of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number 70 of 2016. The ANOVA test showed a sig value of 0.955, p value > 0.05, which means that there is no relationship between years of service and COHb levels of brick craftsmen in Bogor village, Cawas district, Klaten district.
