Abstract

Diarrhea can be caused by various pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, parasites, and others. The cause of diarrhea is not only caused by infection, but can also be caused by other factors, such as malabsorption, food poisoning, allergies, motility disorders, and others. Diarrhea caused by parasites, can be caused by infection with Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli, Giardia lamblia, Blastocystis hominis, Ascaris lumbricoides, Strongyloides stercoralis, Trichuris trichiura, and others. The purpose of this research was to determine whether Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli, Giardia lamblia, Blastocystis hominis were found in the stool examination of diarrhea patients at Prodia Bogor and to identify these protozoan species in the feces of patients with diarrhea at Prodia Bogor. Based on this research, it can be seen that the species Entamoeba histolytica, Entamoeba coli, Giardia lamblia, Blastocystis hominis were found in the stool examination of a diarrhea patient at Prodia Bogor. With the percentage of intestinal protozoa that cause diarrhea as follow Entamoeba histolytica cyst stage 27.3%, Entamoeba coli cyst stage 36.4%, Blastocystis hominis 29.5%, Giardia lamblia cyst stage 6.8%.
