Abstract

Hospitals as health care facilities have an important role in improving the health status of the community. One indicator of hospital quality is to assess the incidence of nosocomial infections. Various studies conducted around the world show that nosocomial infections are a major cause of morbidity and mortality. The increase in the length of treatment days is one of the risk factors for causing nosocomial infections. Acinetobacter baumannii is one of the bacteria that causes nosocomial infections. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between Acinetobacter infection and patient length of stay. This research method uses a retrospective cohort using a control group and a case group. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling and obtained a total sample of 110 samples. From the study, it was found that patients with length of stay 7 days (83.6%), the majority were female (58.2%) and age 50 years (54.5%). There was a statistically significant relationship between Acinetobacter infection with patient length of stay with a p value of 0.046 (value of Asymp. Sig (2-sided) < 0.05, which means Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted). In testing the Odd ratio (OR) value, the OR value is 2.486. Conclusion : There is a relationship between length of stay for Acinetobacter infection and the longer stay in the ICU, the risk of developing nosocomial infections is 2,486 times.
