Abstract

Deodorant is a product used to treat body odor caused by sweat mixed with bacteria, body odor occurs due to lack of hygiene, especially in the skin area. Roll-on deodorants are in great demand by the public because they are considered more practical. The purpose of this study was to determine the results of antibacterial activity tests of various brands of roll-on deodorants against Staphylococcus aureus. The design used in this research is descriptive by using a sampling technique, namely quota sampling. This research was conducted at the National STIKES Microbiology Laboratory in March 2022. The samples of this research were various brands of roll-on deodorants that were obtained in several supermarkets in New Solo. The antibacterial activity test was carried out using the Kirby Bauer method, using Mueller Hinton Agar media. The results of the study as many as 7 samples and 3 repetitions showed that all roll on deodorants were able to inhibit Staphylococcus aureus bacteria with an average yield of 7.46 mm for all samples. The results of the negative control were not able to inhibit bacteria. The data are depicted in the results table.
