Abstract
Batik is a work of art and culture of the Indonesian nation that has been passed down from generation to generation. Batik coloring can use natural or synthetic materials. The use of synthetic or chemical dyes can cause environmental pollution and health problems. The use of synthetic dyes increases the exposure to metals such as lead (Pb) in batik workers. Hemoglobin (Hb) is the main component of red blood cells or erythrocytes. Batik workers are people whose work is making batik cloth, producing various batik motifs with high quality and uniqueness as national clothing that has been recognized by the world. Lead (Pb) is a heavy metal which is solid, malleable and shiny gray in color. Lead can affect hemoglobin levels to be low. This study aims to determine the description of hemoglobin levels in batik workers in the dyeing department in the home industry of the Laweyan batik village, Surakarta. This research is a descriptive study using total sampling with 21 blood samples of batik workers in the coloring division in the home industry of Batik Laweyan Surakarta village who have signed informed consent. The sampling technique used is total sampling. The hemoglobin level in this blood sample was checked with a Hematology Analyzer. The data obtained such as the mean, median, standard deviation of the results of the examination in the laboratory of the Surakarta National College of Health were processed using Microsoft Excel on a computer and then presented in tabular form. The conclusion of the study showed that of the 21 blood samples examined, 20 samples (95.24%) were normal and 1 sample (4.76%) was less than normal.
