Abstract
Antioxidants are compounds that can inhibit or reduce free radicals by capturing or giving unpaired electron pairs so that they are not reactive, one of which is that the butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L) contains flavonoid compounds that can be used as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant activity of the extract and fraction of butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L) using the ABTS method. Butterfly pea flowers were extracted by maceration method with 96% ethanol solvent then after obtaining the thick extract was dissolved with distilled water to be fractionated with n-hexane, ethyl acetate as a solvent. This antioxidant activity test used the ABTS method (2,2'-azino-bis- (3ethylbenzothiazolin) -6 sulfonate acid). The operating time is in the 6th minute and the maximum wavelength is 735 nm. In this study using as comparison and Kruskal-Wallis Test for the data analysis, the analysis of the antioxidant activity test between the extract and fraction of butterfly pea flower (Clitoria ternatea L) was carried out using Kruskal-Wallis Test The test results of the antioxidant activity of the extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction yielded an IC 50 of 19.9741 ± 0.0181, 30.1265 ± 0.0503, 17.8659 ± 0.0196 and 26, respectively. 4522 ± 0.3914. The Kruskal-Wallis Test results showed a significant difference between the antioxidant activity of ethanol extract, n-hexane fraction, ethyl acetate fraction and water fraction (Sig) < 0,005
