Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that causes multi-system disorders and has the characteristics of hyperglycemia caused by insulin deficiency or inadequate insulin work. The adherence level is behavior of patients in taking medication correctly about the dosage, frequency, and time recommended by the medical staff, namely the doctor or pharmacist. The case of diabetes mellitus in Gambirsari Health Center has increased in 2018. In 2017 a total of 625 patients in 2018 increased to 922 patients. The increase in cases is almost 67.78%. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of adherence to diabetes medication in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The design of this study was non-experimental with a prospective data approach design, the sample in this study was 35 patients. The results showed that the characteristics of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus in Surakarta Gambirsari Puskesmas were 24 people (68.6%), 25 higher education (71.4%), types of drugs taken by respondents glibenclamid and metformin 14 people ( 40%), there were 18 illnesses (51.4%) who suffered from hypertension, the level of adherence in taking drugs had moderate compliance of 15 people (42.9%). Compliance with the consumption of diabetes medications taken by obedient women was 76.9% high. age <60 years has moderate adherence of 86.7%. Higher education level has a high compliance of 76.9%.
