Abstract
Triglycerides are the major lipid components in food intake, for about 98% of total lipids, the remaining 2% consisting of phospholipids and cholesterol ( free and esters ).Triglycerides can be stored in abundance to supply the body's energy needs for months. Triglyceride levels in the blood are affected by intake. Excessive intake of fat and carbohydrates can increase the triglyceride levels in the blood. Excess levels of triglycerides (hypertriglycerides) can lead to thickening of the walls of blood vessels so there is a risk of stroke and heart attack. Yam Bean (Pachyrhizus erorus) contains isoflavones, flavonoids in Yam Bean can prevent LDL oxidation and reduce lipid peroxidation so that triglyceride levels can decrease. This literature study research uses an observational method using three scientific sources in the last 10 years. The research method used is the study of literature which is based on scientific journals and the results of research that has been done previously both those that have not been published. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of consumption of jicama juice on triglyceride levels in women. The results showed that three sources stated that there was a significant influence between consumption of Yam Bean juice (Pachyrhizus erorus) on triglyceride levels in women. After analyzing it, it can be concluded that there is an effect of consumption of yam juice (Pachyrhizus erorus) on triglyceride levels in women.
