Abstract
Intestinal nematode is one of the causes of nematodiasis. Alternative treatments for nematodiasis are natural ingredients from herbal plants that have potential as anthelmintic against intestinal nematodes, namely Veitchia merrillii seeds, mango arumanis (Mangifera indica L.), katuk leaves (Sauropus androgynus), turmeric (Curcuma domestica), jambe seeds (Areca catechu), and ambon bananas (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum (L.)). The purpose of this study was to determine the types of natural ingredients from herbal plants that contain anthelmintic against nematodes. This type of research uses secondary data sets taken from scientific journal reviews, theses, theses, and scientific papers relating to natural substances as natural anthelmintic against intestinal nematodes. Research from journal reviews or related articles is carried out in February to June. Research samples from each review of the study were Ascaridia galli, Raillietin tertagona, and Ascaris suum. The review results show that there are natural ingredients from herbal plants in Indonesia, namely Veitchia merriilli seeds, turmeric (Curcuma domestica), and ambon bananas (Musa paradisiaca var. Sapientum (L.)) that cause 100% of worm deaths and jambe (Areca catechu) causing 80% mortality, the results of the worm mortality response are classified as "very strong" criteria. Katuk leaves (Sauropus androgynus) ethanol extracts cause 61.7% of deaths classified as "strong" criteria. Whereas natural ingredients of katuk leaf water extract (Sauropus androgynus) caused 32.7% mortality and arumanis mango leaves (Mangifera indica L.) caused 50% death, the response to worm mortality was classified as "moderate". These six natural ingredients are known to contain secondary metabolites such as tannins, saponins, and flavonoids that are most commonly found in identified natural ingredients, in addition to several other compounds also found, namely alkaloids, triterpenoids, terpenoids, sterols, phenols, monoterpenes, quinones. The most potential natural material as an anthelmintic against intestinal nematodes, namely turmeric (Curcuma domestica) which causes death by 100% with the lowest concentration in the fastest time.
