Abstract

Basil is one of the fresh vegetables that are usually eaten raw and is often used as a snack by street food vendors such as catfish pecel sellers, grilled chicken, fried duck and so on. Basil vegetables can be contaminated by Soil Transmitted Helminth worm eggs. Contamination of helminth eggs Soil Transmitted Helminth can reduce the quality of vegetables Basil. This study aims to determine what eggs from the Transmitted Helminth Soil contained in basil vegetables are used as fresh vegetables by street vendors in Tasikmadu District The design used in this study was an experimental descriptive using a total sampling technique, sampling 30 basil vegetables. Identification of Soil Transmitted Helminth eggs was carried out by sedimentation method, the sample was soaked using a NaOH 0.2% solution then centrifuged and observed under a microscope with an objective lens 10x then an objective 40x. The result of the study are reported in the form of a table. Based on the research it can be concluded that there is contaminated Helminth Soil eggs and obtained results of 4% or 1 sample of basil vegetables found in the type of Transmitted Helminth Soil eggs namely Ascaris sp 4%, Hookworm 0%, Trichuris trichiura 0% and Toxocara 0%.
