Abstract

Anticoagulants are substances that prevent blood clots by binding or precipitating calcium or by inhibiting the formation of thrombin needed to convert fibrinogen to fibrin in the clotting process. The K2EDTA vacuum tube recommended by the International Council for Standardization in Hematology (ICSH) and the Clinical and Laboratory Standart Institute (CLSI). Comparison of blood with inappropriate anticoagulants can give inaccurate results on the number of erythrocytes. In examinations in clinics and hospitals, improper filling of vacuum tubes still often occurs because there are not many hospitals or clinics in providing microtubes for the blood collection of infants and children. Less anticoagulants will cause high hypertonicity, causing fluid contained in cells will come out to maintain osmotic pressure. So that its use in concentration must be precise and must be considered. This research literature study uses descriptive analysis methods sourced from books and scientific journals in the last 10 years. Based on the review that has been done, the examination was carried out using the K2EDTA vacuum tube with a difference in volume using an automatic device. The results of research by Xu M, et al with a value of R2 0.994, research by Gupta, et al with an F value of 0.006 and research by Dayalan, et al with a P value of 0.9884. In conclusion, there was no significant effect on the difference in the volume of blood in the K2EDTA tube vacuum on the number of erythrocytes. After the analysis, it was concluded that the difference in blood volume in the K2EDTA tube vacuum did not significantly affect the number of erythrocytes
