Abstract
House dust mites (HDM) are the most common allergens in homes spread throughout the world. HDM is often found in damp houses, mattresses, pillows, bolsters, carpets and various other home furnishings. HDM can be a serious problem for human health. For people who are susceptible to HDM can cause allergic reactions such as asthma, rhinitis, and atopic dermatitis. The location taken is the boarding house, where boarders usually do not pay attention to the cleanliness of the room. This study discusses the spread, percentage, and factors that influence house dust mites in the boarding house. This type of research used is literature study. This study uses secondary data taken from scientific journals, theses, theses and scientific papers. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis. The results of the case study of the presence of home dust mites in boarding rooms obtained the highest percentage results in Bogor boarding room as much as 84,62 % and the lowest percentage of as much as in the Tunggulwulung women’s boarding room. The factors that influence the HDM in the boarding room are temperature, humidity, and the level of cleanliness of individuals. Based on data analysis, it can be known the average recognized home dust mites (Dermatophagoides sp) in boarding rooms in Indonesia by 65,53%. Factors that influence the presence of house dust mites are temperature 25 – 31 with humidity 70 – 80%, the level of hygiene of each individual in cleaning rooms and beds, all good activities studying, eating, sleeping carried out in the room, geographical location, the period of use of the mattress, mattress thickness, ways and tools to clean the room.
