Abstract
Leukocytes are the body's defense system. Leukocytes act as an immune system that is the body's ability to get rid of foreign objects that enter the body which has the potential to cause cell damage. Examination of the leukocyte count can used a blood sample with an anticoagulant. Anticoagulants are substances that can chain calcium in the blood and precipitate calcium so that the blood clotting process can be inhibited. Examination of the number of leukocytes can used 10% conventional Na2EDTA anticoagulant or K2EDTA Vacutainer. The used of conventional 10% Na2EDTA anticoagulant can caused false low results caused by the addition of sodium ions to extracellular fluid so that the osmosis process occurs. In K2EDTA anticoagulant there is potassium which determines the osmotic activity of intracellular fluid, so that cells do not change and remain in their original shape so that they can be read on a hematology analyzer. The purpose of this research was to determine the results of the examination of the leukocyte count using conventional 10% NA2EDTA anticoagulant and K2EDTA Vacutainer anticoagulant. This study used a literature study research method. The data needed in this study were obtained from various existing literature. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive analysis. Based on the results obtained, that the use of conventional anticoagulant Na2EDTA has a lower average number of leukocytes than the use of K2EDTA Vacutainer
