Abstract

Inflammation is an immune system against infection and tissue damage. Existing anti-inflammatory medications have many side effects if used for a long time, such as stomach upset, liver damage, and kidneys. Therefore, inflammation is handled in addition to using chemical medicine, namely herbal medicinal therapy with plants, one of which is Beluntas leaves. This study aims to determine the activity of the ethyl acetate fraction of Beluntas leaves (Pluchea indica L.) as an anti-inflammatory in mice (Rattus norvegicus) caragen induced, as well as knowing the dose concentration of the ethyl acetate fraction of Beluntas leaves which was the most effective as an anti-inflammatory in white rats. The research method used was to measure the volume of edema on the soles of the rats' feet that had been induced with carrageenan. In this study, the test animals were divided into 5 treatment groups, positive control group, negative control, dose 1, 2 and dose 3. The data obtained were analyzed by SPSS ANOVA method and Tukey's test at a 95% confidence level. The results of the phytochemical screening test. Beluntas positive leaf extract contains flavonoids with a marked orange / red color. The results of the anti-inflammatory test, the percentage of inflammation inhibition, showed more than 0.05, which means that all groups had an effectiveness comparable to the comparison group (positive control), group III dose with a dose concentration of 350mg/kg BW is the best dose of suspension fraction as anti-inflamatory where the sig value is 0,588 which shows the highest value and it is estimated that flavonoid compounds are responsible for reducing the volume of edema of inflamation of the legs of test animals.
