Abstract
Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria are the main cause of nosocomial infections of the urinary tract, postoperative wound infections, blood vessel infections and meningitis, especially in patients with low immune systems. Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria can be a co-infection from Covid-19. Srikaya leaves are included in traditional medicinal plants, which contain flavonoidscompounds. In this research, extract concentration variants of 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100% were used which will be used to carry out the antibacterial test. This research aims to determine the ability of the ethanol extract of 96% Srikaya leaves (Anonna squamosa L.) in inhibiting the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. To find out, the 100% concentration variant of the 96% ethanol extract of Srikaya leaves produced the largest inhibition zone in the growth of the bacterium Psedomonas aeruginosa. This research was conducted using a type of experimental research using the Kirby & Bauer method and using a blank disk and immersed in the extract and Nutriet agar media. In this study, the results of positive control using the antibiotic ciprofloxacin were obtained from 4 replications and an average of 40.875mm was obtained, in 4 concentration variants there was no inhibition zone found. The conclusion for this study was that the ethanol extract of 96% Srikaya leaves (Anonna squamosa L.) was unable to inhibit the growth of Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria. In the 100% concentration series, Srikaya leaves were unable to inhibit Pseudomonas aeruginosa bacteria, as well as the concentration series of 25%, 50%, and 75% were also unable to inhibit the growth of Pseeudomonas aeruginosa bacteria.
