Abstract

Total body fat is one indicator of weight gain and affects BMI. The imbalance between energy supply and expenditure increases the concentration of fatty acids in the blood which can reduce the use of glucose in muscle and fat tissue. This study was conducted with the aim of knowing the relationship between BMI and fasting blood glucose levels in class 3-A3 students DIII Medical Laboratory Technology of STIKES Nasional. This study uses an analytical research design. The place of research was carried out at the Clinical Chemistry Laboratory of the National College of Health Sciences. This study uses a total sampling technique that is as many as 34 students who become respondents. Respondents were measured their height and weight to calculate the BMI value, then 3 ml of venous blood was taken, after that continued the manufacture of serum to be checked for fasting blood glucose levels using the Clima MC-15 Photometer using the GOD-PAP method. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between BMI and fasting blood glucose levels in class 3-A3 students class 2018 DIII Medical Laboratory Technology of STIKES National.
