Abstract
Soil Transmitted Helminths are a group of parasitic worms (Nematode class) that can cause infection in humans through contact with eggs or larvae of the parasite itself that develop in moist soils found in tropical and subtropical countries. Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) infection is still a problem in many areas of the world, especially in developing areas with very poor environmental sanitation and personal hygiene. The purpose of this study is to find out whether or not soil transmitted helminth egg contamination in broccoli vegetables and identify Helminth Soil Transmitted eggs in broccoli vegetables. This study used precipitation technique by soaking vegetables using NaOH solution 0.2%. The first step is to prepare the sample by cutting the sample to be soaked with a 0.2% NaOH solution for 1 hour. Next defecate the top and leave 10ml. It is then checked and analyzed under a microscope. The data obtained is analyzed in cross sectional analytics. The results showed that 6 samples of broccoli from Eromoko Traditional Market, 6 samples of broccoli from Wonogiri Traditional Market, 6 samples of broccoli from Krisak Traditional Market, 6 samples of broccoli from Ngadirojo Traditional Market, 6 samples of broccoli from Sidoharjo Traditional Market there was no contamination of Soil Transmitted Helminths eggs. The conclusion of this study shows that broccoli samples sold in the traditional market of Wonogiri Regency obtained 100% no eggs Soil Transmitted Helminths.
