Abstract

Diabetes mellitus type 2 (DM Type-2) is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to failure of insulin secretion, insulin action, or both. The decrease in insulin function found in uncontrolled diabetes mellitus causes lipolys is and the release of free fatty acids and glycerol into the blood circulation resulting in an increase in excess free fatty acids which will be carried to the liver for fat metabolism will cause an increase in hypertriglyceridemia. This study aims to determine the levels of triglycerides in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus who are not controlled by Prolanis participants at the Rejosari Husada Clinic. This research design was descriptive. The population in this study were patients with type 2 diabetes who were not controlled by Prolanis at the Rejosari Husada Clinic, Delanggu, with a total of 35. The samples in this study were 32 samples taken from the study population using the Random Sampling technique . The dependent variable in this study was triglyceride levels using a photometer at a light wavelength of 546 nm with units of mg/dl. While the independent variable is uncontrolled diabetes mellitus type 2. Based on this research, it is known that from 32 respondents, 27 respondents (84.4%) had hypertriglyceridemia and 5 respondents (15.6%) had normal triglyceride levels. The highest proportion of respondents who experienced hypertriglyceridemia were female respondents (70.4%), 16 respondents (59.3%) with age >60 years, 15 respondents with physical activity once a week (55,6%). The conclusion of this study is that most of the patients with uncontrolled diabetes mellitus, Prolanis participants at the Rejosari Husada Clinic, experienced hypertriglyceridemia.
