Abstract

The incidence of obesity and overweight in 2018 in Indonesia by 39% and obesity by 11%. The prevalence of hypercholesterolemia in Asia in the last decade is around 29%. Epidemiology of hypercholesterolemia in Indonesia with age 15 years found that the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia is 35,9%. Obesity is a factor in the increase in total cholesterol levels. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between body mass index and total cholesterol levels in grade 3 A3 students class 2018 DIII National Medical Laboratory Technology STIKES. Type of research is analytic observational with approach cross sectional. The sampling technique in this study was total sampling with 34 students of class 3A 3 class 2018 DIII Technology National Stikes Medical Laboratory. The examination method used is Photometric CHOD-PAP (Cholesterol Oxidase Phenol Aminosphenazone). Pearsontest Product Moment obtained p value (0.833). The study concluded that there was no significant relationship between body mass index and total cholesterol level in grade 3 A3 student class 2018 DIII National Medical Laboratory Technology Stikes with p value=0.833
