Abstract

Femur fracture is the loss of continuity of the femur bone accompanied by soft tissue damage (muscle, skin). This open femur fracture often causes bleeding because anatomically the artery flows along the femur close to the femur bone, so if a fracture occurs in the femur it will cause injury to the femoral artery which has an impact on the amount of blood that comes out which is at high risk of hypovolemic shock. Anemia is a condition where the levels of hemoglobin, hematocrit, and red blood cell counts are below normal. To find out if a patient has anemia, check the hemoglobin level. The purpose of this study was to compare Hemoglobin levels before and after blood transfusion in postoperative femur fracture patients at Prof. Orthopedic Hospital. Dr. R. Soeharso conducted in March 2021. This research uses observational analytic method. This study was conducted by examining Hemoglobin levels before and after blood transfusion in postoperative femoral patients with a total sample of 20 and the side technique was purposive sampling. Hemoglobin examination using Sysmex XN-550 with flowcytometry method. The results of the study were based on male sex as many as 20 people with the average hemoglobin before transfusion was 7,9 gr/dl, while the average hemoglobin after transfusion was 9,7 gr/dl. The results of the different test results of Hemoglobin level examination using the Paired sample t-test test obtained a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. The results of this study can be concluded that there is a significant difference in the results of examination of hemoglobin levels before and after transfusion.
