Abstract

Cigarettes kill nearly 6 million people per year, more than five million smokers are active smokers and more than 600,000 are passive smokers. Tar, Nicotin, Free Radicals and Carbon Monoxide are some of the most dangerous chemicals in cigarette smoke. The aim of the study was to determine The Effect of Exposure to Kretek Cigarette Smoke on the Number Of Erythrocytes in White Rats (Rattus norvegicus). The experimental research method, with a quasi-experimental research design or quasi-experiment was carried out in april 2021 with 24 white rats (Rattus norvegicus) as the subject. Data were collected with the value of the number of erythrocytes examined with the ABACUS 3CT hematology analyzer. Based on the research the average number of erythrocytes in the control treatment group was 8,19x106 /μL, 3 rods per day 8,44x106 /μL, 5 rods per day 8,61x106 /μL, 7 rods per day 9,70x106 /μL. Hypothesis testing was carried out with the One Way Anova test. The conclusion of this study is that there is an Effect of Exposure to Kretek Cigarette Smoke on the Number Of Erythrocytes in White Rats (Rattus norvegicus).
