Abstract

One of the bacteria that causes acne is Staphylococcus aureus. Jackfruit leaf (Artocapus heterophyllus L.) is one of the plants that has potential as an antibacterial, the leaves of Jackfruit have several compounds, one of these is a flavonoid which has antibacterial activity. The purpose of the research is to determine the optimum proportion of PVA and HPMC which will be formulated in the preparation of peel off gel mask extract of jackfruit leaf using the simplex lattice design method. The extraction method used in this study is maseration with ethanol as a solvent. Peel off gel mask manufacturing is done by optimation the base of PVA dan HPMC. The quality control testing of the peel off gel mask preparation and the result obtained that meet the requirements of the homogeneity, pH, viscosity, drying time of the peel off gel mask, speadability and adhesion of the peel off gel mask. The optimum formula of peel off gel mask based on the simplex lattice design method is on a combination of 12,79% PVA base and 3,20% HPMC. Antibacterial activity test obtained has the ability to inhibit against Staphylococcus aureus bactria indicated by an average diameter of the zone of inhibition by 9,6 mm. The statistical results obtained stated that there was significant difference between the positive control.
