Abstract

Manila sapodilla leaf (Manilkara Zapota L) is a plant that has potential as an antibacterial, because it contains flavonoid compounds. The gel contains a hydrophilic base that contains manila sapodilla leaves (Manilkara Zapota L) is a plant that has potential as an antibacterial, because it contains flavonoid compounds. The gel contains a hydrophilic base which has a soft consistency and feels cool on the skin. The purpose of the study was to make an optimal gel formula for extracts of sapodilla manila leaves with variations of gelling agent Na-CMC and carbopol that met the physical quality test and was used as an anti-acne. The method used is maceration with 70% ethanol as solvent. The optimum formula was tested based on the parameters of pH, spreadability, adhesion, viscosity. Verification of the optimal formula used by statistical tests using one sample t test. Test the antibacterial activity of the gel preparation by looking at the size of the inhibition zone. The data obtained were processed with ANOVA statistics. The results of the study found that the yield of ethanol extract of sapodilla manila leaves was 24.17%. The combination of Na-CMC 0gram and Carbopol 3gram based on the SLD method has a desirability value of 0.866. Based on the t test of the optimum formula, which is a value that is not significantly different, it means that the method used is valid. The results of the antibacterial activity of Staphylococcus aureus obtained an average value of 16.24±0.785 while the positive control obtained an average value of 21.72±0.464, meaning that it was not equivalent to the positive control.
