Abstract

Suji leaf (Dracaena Angustifolia Roxb.) is a medicinal plant used to heal wounds. The content of secondary compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, steroids and terpenoids in suji leaves are alleged to have activity on the healing process of burns. The purpose of this study was to determine the activity of 70% ethanol extract of suji leaves and the optimal dose concentration of 70% ethanol extract of suji leaves on the healing process of burns. The extract was made into a cream preparation with a quality control test which included organoleptic, homogeneity, dispersibility, adhesion, pH, viscosity and cream type tests. This research is an experimental study with Wistar strain male white Rats consisting of 5 treatment groups. The five treatment groups included a positive control test group, a negative control group, and an extract concentration of 5%, 7% and 9%. The formation of second degree burns by the method of applying hot metal. Burns were observed for 15 days by measuring the diameter of the wound. The statistical results obtained showed a p value <0.05, which means positive control, negative control, formulas 1, 2 and 3 have significant differences. The graph shows the difference in the reduction in burns, the highest graph was obtained by giving formula 3 with a concentration of ethanol extract of suji leaf (Dracaena angustifolia Roxb.) of 9%.
