Abstract
In the month of fasting, sahur is the practice of consuming food and beverages before the time of imsya’. Sahur is essential for providing the body with the nutrients it requires while fasting. Students who fast require enough energy to carry out activities; sahur provides 40% (800 calories) of daily nutritional requirements. The body will be malnourished if the sahur is of poor quality, especially in terms of iron intake for hemoglobin synthesis. Hemoglobin levels drop as a result of this. This type of study is a descriptive cross-sectional study that aims to describe the hemoglobin levels and sahur quality in college students. The total sampling technique was used to obtain a sample of 16 students. The colorimetric method was used to examine the Mindray BC-2800 Hematology Analyzer in this study. The results revealed that 13 of the 16 blood samples examined had normal results (81.3%) and 3 samples (18.8%) had less than normal results. From the data of 16 people with poor quality of sahur, 13 people (81.3%) with normal hemoglobin levels and 3 people (18.8%) with less than normal hemoglobin levels, most of whom came from students with poor quality sahur, normal nutritional status, female gender, light physical activity, and irreguler supplementation.
