Abstract

The increasing demand for drinking water by the community has resulted in the number of refill drinking water depots, but it is not matched by the quality. Karanganyar Regency supervises drinking water depots by checking the quality of drinking water produced. The parameter that is routinely checked is the MPN Coliform examination. The purpose of this study was to determine the difference in the results obtained from the examination of coliform bacteria in refill drinking water using the double tube method with examination using a membrane filter. This research is an analytical research with a cross sectional approach. Samples were taken from 30 refill drinking water depots in Karanganyar District, Karanganyar Regency. Coliform examination was carried out by two methods of examination, namely double tube and membrane filter. The data were analyzed using the wilcoxon statistical test. The results showed that in the double tube method, 13% contained coliform bacteria and 13% in the membrane filter method. The results of the wilcoxon statistical test showed a sig value (2-tailed) of 0.273 so it was greater than 0.05, so it can be concluded that there was no difference in the results of coliform bacteria in the double tube and membrane filter methods.
