Abstract

Background :Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) indicates the presence of microorganisms in the urine and is a common disease encountered in general practice. UTIs can be caused by bacteria, viruses and fungi. The gold standard for diagnosing a UTI is the presence of a significant number of microorganisms in the urine. The prevalence of urinary tract infections varies by age and gender. The purpose of this study was to determine the percentage of urinary tract infections based on bacterial species, gender and age in the Prodia Kebayoran clinical laboratory April 2021-March 2022. Method : The study was conducted based on a descriptive research design with primary and secondary data analysis of urine culture examination at the Clinical Laboratory of Prodia Kebayoran as many as 119 respondents. (primary data : 26 respondents, secondary data : 93 respondents) Result : From 119 respondents, it can be concluded that the most common bacterial species causing urinary tract infections is Escherichia coli (53.8%), the most gender of patients with urinary tract infections were women (75.6%), the age with the most urinary tract infections was > 65 years (54.6%).
