Abstract

Urinary tract infection is one of the infectious diseases in which the number of bacteriuria multiply with the number of urine culture bacteria> 100,000 / ml of urine, or it is said to be meaningful if it shows the growth of pure microorganisms of more than 105 colony forming units (cfu / ml) in urine culture. The purpose of this study was to determine the types of bacteria that cause urinary tract infections and to identify Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae bacteria in UTI patients who underwent urine culture examination at Prodia Blitar. This study used a descriptive research design and the sample of this study was 32 patients with a diagnosis of UTI. The results of research conducted from 32 UTI urine samples found that the cause of UTI was Escherichia coli as much as 78.1% which was dominated by female patients as much as 84% and found the cause of UTI by Klebsiella pneumoniae as much as 15.6% which was dominated by male patients as much as 60%. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that the biggest cause of urinary tract infection in patients who underwent urine culture examination at the Prodia Blitar clinical laboratory from January to February was Escherichia coli, which was dominated by female patients.
