Abstract

Water is the main source for the continuity of life on earth. The people of Binade village use water from springs which are accommodated in large reservoirs which are streamed through small pipes to people's homes. The springs in Binade village are located close to the river, so there is a high possibility of contamination in springs. The purpose of this study was to determine the MPN coliform in springs with residential tap water of Blumbang, Binade. This study used an observational analytic method with a cross sectional approach. This research was conducted by examining the MPN on springs and residential tap water of Blumbang, Binade taking samples at 10 points at the springs and 10 samples of residential tap water. The results of the study in springs obtained positive results in 10 of 10 samples and in the residential tap water, obtained positive results 4 of 10 samples. The results of data analysis using the Wilcoxon test obtained the Asymp Sig value. (2-tailed) of 0.004 < 0.05. The results of this study can be concluded that there is a difference between MPN Coliform in the springs and MPN Coliform in the residential tap water, where the addition of chlorine to the tap water of residents' homes has been carried out by the Ngrayun Health Center in the reservoir.
