Abstract

Energy drinks is also one of the drinks that can increase energy and contain ingredients that are stimulants such as taurine, caffeine, vitamins, sugar. Honey as an antioxidant, which a role in it including enzymes, organic acids, vitamins A, B3, C, E and flavonoids. The purpose of this study was to find out the histopathological influence of hepar white rats (Rattus norvegicus) who were given honey after induction of energy drinks. This study was experimental with 5 treatment groups including 1 negative control, 1 positive control and 3 treatments of energy drinks 76 mg/200 g/day and honey with a concentration of 20% and doses in stages. Hepar tissue is observed macroscopically in the form of color, texture and size, while microscopic is done by assessing the presence of degeneration and necrosis (picnotic, cariaxia, kariolysis). The results of macroscopic observations showed no difference between the control group and the treatment of energy drinks and honey, namely the brownish-red hepar organ, chewy texture and size of ± 4cm x 3cm. The microscopic observations results known on positive control showed a degree of damage that is classified as severe with cell damage in the form of degeneration and necrosis, in the treatment group with honey showed a relatively mild level of damage with cell damage in the form of degeneration and only a few necrosis were found. Obtained the value of ANOVA test significance is 0.393 (≥ 0.05) so that it can be known that honey is given can affect the histopathological picture of hepar white rats (Rattus norvegicus) after induction of energy drinks.
