Abstract

Surgical wound infection (ILO) is one of the complications after surgery. Nosocomial infections are common in surgical patients due to intentional tissue injury. The bacteria that often cause ILO is the type of Staphylococcus bacteria. Resistance is the ability of bacteria to neutralize and weaken the action of antibiotics. The purpose of this study was to determine factual data regarding the resistance of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria to the antibiotics Vancomycin (30mcg) and Ciprofloxacin (5mcg) as a form of strategy to treat bacterial resistance. The design of this research is descriptive and uses accidental sampling technique. This research was conducted in January – February 2022 at the “JIH” Hospital Solo. The sample data obtained in this study were 22 vaginal samples with secondary and primary data from December 2019 – February 2022. The results of this study showed that Staphylococcus aureus was 100% sensitive to vancomycin (30mcg), Staphylococcus aureus was sensitive 36%, Intermediate 9%, and 55% resistant to Ciprofloxacin (5mcg) from 22 total pus samples obtained at the Microbiology Laboratory of RS "JIH SOLO" since December 2019- February 2022. The conclusion from this study was that there was no Staphylococcus aureus resistance to the antibiotic vancomycin (30mcg) from 22 total pus samples and there was Staphylococcus aureus resistance to the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin (5mcg) 12 samples from 22 pus samples in surgical wound infections (ILO) at "JIH SOLO" Hospital.
