Abstract
Lead as exhaust gas from motorcycles endangers both humans and the environment. Everyday, lead is inhaled by humans, absorbed, stored and collected in the blood. Too much exposure to lead may cause blood pressure to increase. The purpose of this research is Relationship of lead levels (Pb) in the blood with blood pressure in operators of filling general fuels (SPBU) Gombel Semarang. This research is an analytic research with a quantitative method, using cross sectional research design to examine the connection. The research sample consisted of 18 respondents who met the specified criteria, blood lead (Pb) levels were checked using the Agilent 7700 tool at the Prodia Laboratory National Referral Center Jakarta and blood pressure checks were carried out by researchers. The results of the Shapiro-Wilk normality test obtained Pb levels p = 0.017 and blood pressure p = 0.001 so that it can be interpreted that the data distribution is not normal. The Chi-Square correlation test has no value because the lead levels are the same value, which is normal for all respondents. The correlation test between Pb levels (numerical data) and blood pressure categories consisting of normal, prehypertension and hypertension (categorical data) using the Spearman’s rho correlation showed that there was no correlation between Pb levels and blood pressure with a significance of 0.450 greater than 0.05. The conclusion of this research is that there is no relationship between blood lead (Pb) levels and blood pressure in operators of Gombel public gas stations (SPBU) Semarang
