Abstract

Healthy skin can reflect a person's overall health. In addition, the skin is also a measure of beauty. The desire to look beautiful causes teenagers to be more consumptive of cosmetics in order to facilitate interaction and gain recognition from the environment according to the Badan Pengawas Obat dan Makanan (BPOM) and Departemen Kesehatan (Depkes) since 2012, there is a dangerous ingredient that is often added to cosmetics, the hazardous material is mercury (Hg). The purpose of this study was to qualitatively analyze mercury in urine and unbranded face whitening cream for female students at SMAN 20 Seram Barat, Maluku. This type of research is a descriptive analytic study with a sample of 12 female students and 12 unbranded facial whitening creams taken by accidental sampling technique. Samples of unbranded face whitening cream were examined using the Mercury Test Kit qualitatively with the results of the study that facial whitening cream A was positive for mercury while facial whitening creams B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K and L were negative. mercury.
