Abstract
Tofu industrial liquid waste is one of the wastes obtained from the tofu manufacturing process and still contains sufficient nutrients such as carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization and potential as well as the total number of bacteria plates in tofu industrial wastewater with varying concentrations as an alternative medium for growing S. aureus. This type of research uses experiential and posttest only control group research design. The study began with the manufacture of tofu industrial wastewater with concentrations of 6%, 7%, 8%, 9% and 10%, respectively, then added agar and aquadest. S. aureus bacteria played a role as the subject inoculated by spread plate using dryglasky. The comparison used was Nutrient agar media as a positive control, then observations and calculations of bacterial growth were carried out on the media. The liquid waste media of the tofu industry showed the growth of S. aureus bacteria in the presence of growing colonies. The results of the calculation of the number of bacterial colonies in variations in the concentration of tofu industrial wastewater 6%, 7%, 8%, 9% and 10% obtained sequential averages of 6.25; 4.00; 7.75; 10.25; and 12.25. Where the higher the concentration, the more the number of bacterial colonies that grew, but NA media as a control had a better average result of 63.75. It can be concluded that the tofu industrial liquid waste media can be used to grow S. aureus and no concentration has the same ability as NA media.
