Abstract
Worms is a term that refers to a group of parasitic diseases caused by worms, transmitted to humans through soil contaminated with feces. After the infecting worm enters the intestine, it then bites the intestinal wall to "hijack" nutrients. One of the consequences of worms is anemia because the worms in the body will take nutrients and important substances in the body. In toddlers, lack of nutrition will hinder cognitive development and make their IQ potential decrease. Worms are very dangerous for children, especially under 4 years, because they will lose their golden period. The purpose of this study was to determine the presence of helminthiasis in anemic toddlers and the types of worms that infect and to determine the relationship between helminthiasis and anemia. This research is a research with descriptive method with total sampling. The variables of this study were anemia and helminthiasis with a total sample of 226 children under five. Methods of hemoglobin examination with POCT and direck method for the examination of helminth infections. Data analysis used Chi-Square bivariate test and descriptive analysis test with tables and percentages. The results of this study showed that infants with anemia and helminthiasis were 16%, the types of worms that infect were hookworms by 62% and Ascaris lumbrioides by 38%. The results of the Chi-Square test show that toddlers with helminth infections are 1.9 times the risk of developing anemia. The conclusion of this study was that 16% of worm infections were found in anemic toddlers, the types of worms found were hookworms and Ascaris lumbricoides and the relationship between helminth infections and anemia at the Posyandu, Nangsri Manisrenggo Klaten village.
