Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a disease caused by insulin target cells failing to respond normally to insulin or known as "Insulin Resistance". Macrovascular complications in Diabetes Mellitus can be in the form of heart disease, stroke, and peripheral vascular disease. According to the International Atherosclerosis Society, increase levels of LDL and HS CRP in blood have been identified as risk factors for atherosclerosis. Vascular abnormalities occur due to the presence of Lowgrade Chronic Inflammation in the endothelium which causes an increase in inflammatory cytokines. HS CRP is an inflammatory marker that is considered the best currently. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation between levels of HS CRP and levels of LDL in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. The method of this research was observational analytic with a cross sectional approach. The results obtained through the data analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 for windows application show the Asymp.Sig result of 0.003 which is smaller than 0.05 (<0.05), so it is stated that there is a relationship between HS CRP levels with LDL levels in Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients and from the data above, the Correlation Coefficient value is -0.577 which means it has a strong relationship between HS CRP and LDL levels with opposite directions.
