Abstract

Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness, heart disease and kindney failure. In patients with type 2 diabetes, it is known that insulin resistance and hyperglycemia can cause blood viscosity to increase. Blood viscosity is closely related to hematocrit and blood pressure. The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between hematocrit levels and blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes at Prodia MTC Bandung. This research is an observational analytic study using a cross sectional design, by measuring the levels of hematocrit and blood pressure in 80 patients with type 2 diabetes. Data analysis was carried out by comparing hematocrit levels with blood pressure in the from of categorical data based on the JNC-VII 2003. Non-parametric data analysis test with the Kruskal Wallis test obtained Asymp.sig of 0.939>0.05. The results of this study can be concluded that there is no correlation between hematocrit levels and blood pressure in patients with type 2 diabetes.
